“Bathsheba and Remembrance of War” snippet from “SEDITIOUS” the 4th Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” by Emily Guido

Tabbruis hung his head and answered, “God, I really do not want to talk about it but I must.”

Charmeine said, “Yes, I have to hear the story even though I want to forget so badly.  However, until this woman is out of our lives, we really can’t continue on.  We will be just two ships passing in the night never connecting on the level God needs.  Whatever it is Tabbruis, and no matter how much it hurts, please tell me no lies.”

“So you will allow me to explain and tell you what happened?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said with resolve.

He took a big breath and said, “Bathsheba was put on Earth by Lucifer to be a temptress from the beginning of time.  She has, and will always be that way.”  He looked into Charmeine’s eyes and said, “Bathsheba is the same Bathsheba that Kind David married.”

Charmeine’s eyes flew open and she exclaimed, “You have to be joking!  King David?  The same King David who the killed Goliath and wrote the Psalms?  The biblical… King David?”  

Tabbruis nodded.

“If my history serves me right, that was around 980 B.C.” she said.

Smiling big Tabbruis said, “Yes but it was more like 986 B.C.”

Rolling her eyes she said, “Six years makes such a huge difference, Geez Louise.”

He smiled and continued, “Dmitri and I met her later, when we served in the American Army during World War I.  We knew she was a Blood-Hunter right away.”

She asked, “Wow, let me get this straight… you and Dmitri both served in the American Army during Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and Korea?  Why?”

Tabbruis’ head lowered and answered, “Yes, you see Charmeine, Dmitri and I loved America and the values the Constitution of the United States afforded its citizens.  We live in Romania but in our hearts, we feel like we are Americans because the sacrifice for freedom and honor is the greatest gift a man or woman can give to their fellow countrymen.”

Charmeine was in awe of the rich history and experiences Tabbruis had.

She then thought how much death and suffering he had been through and was touched.

However, she remembered the conversation at hand and said, “So how does Bathsheba fall into this?”

Tabbruis said, “Dmitri and I both were enticed by Bathsheba.  When we first knew her, she did not use the name Bathsheba, she used the name… Mata Hari.  In 1917 French intelligence agents intercepted a German message describing their spy in Paris known as H-21.  Later Mata Hari or Bathsheba was identified as H-21.  She claimed to be Dutch-Frisian and performed as an exotic dancer in Paris during World War I.”

He hung his head and took a big breath.  He continued, “However, it was proven Bathsheba or Mata Hari worked as a double agent moving from France to Netherlands leaking secrets playing one side against the other.  She lured men with her promiscuity, flirtatiousness and willingness to flaunt her body.  This was rare in the early 1900’s because women were not like that.”

Charmeine said a little snarky, “No doubt.”

Tabbruis said, “Bathsheba was a man-hunting machine.  Her unbridled sexuality lured men.”

Charmeine said, “Oh really now, I did not notice.”

A little exasperated, Tabbruis said, “Charmeine, this is very hard for me.  Please listen to all of my explanation.”

Charmeine said, “I am sorry Tabbruis.  I won’t make my little comments anymore.”

Tabbruis took a big breath, swallowed and said, “Bathsheba has one purpose in her life… seduction.”
