About Me

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEmily Guido

Young Adult

Paranormal Romance Author

One day she got an idea of two characters who needed to have their story told.

Light-Bearer 9 -1Not ever dreaming a week later she would have over a 100,000 words written, Emily started writing Charmeine the First Novel in The Light-Bearer Series about an ill-fated hero, Tabbruis, and heroine, Charmeine.

The couple, Charmeine and Tabbruis, would literally go through Heaven and Hell to be together.

Their story is a star-crossed relationship where love conquers all, and some paranormal thrown in for spice.

When Emily writes, it is similar to you or I watching a movie. She pictures the characters in her head going through vivid descriptions of each scene. There are so many nuances going through her mind that she cannot type fast enough.

Originally, Emily self-published her first and second novels in The Light-Bearer Series.

In August of 2012, Emily accepted a publishing contract with PDMI Publishing.  She is very excited to see her books will be flourishing under their direction.

As of today, she has completed and published, Charmeine, Mactus, and Accendo.

Seditious  the Fourth Novel will be published in January 2015.

Ransom, the Fifth Novel, and Conundrum, the Sixth Novel in The Light-Bearer Series in 2016.

Emily works full-time at a Fortune 500 Company by New York City and has a Master of Business Administration.

Between taking care of her home and family, work, writing, and book promotion, Emily is a very busy woman!

She runs on STRONG COFFEE and determination!

Emily Guido: Writing 100,000 words in a week

by Law Reigns, Apr 12, 2012

http://lawreigns.com/2012/04/12/emily-guido/

Emily Guido is the successful self-published author of Charmeine, a paranormal romance about two individuals whose love defies the laws of good and evil.

The novel was released Jan. 2012 and tells the story of Tabbruis, a blood-hunter who refuses to accept love cannot overcome fate when he falls for the Queen of all Light-Bearers, Charmeine.

The idea to tell of such a passionate love between people who not only are so different, but come from such different worlds plagued Miss Guido’s mind until she was fueled to complete 100,000 words in a week.

And yet her passion did not die there.

She was encouraged to write a second novel in The Light-Bearer Series, Mactus, followed by Accendo!

Seditious, Ransom, and Conundrum will be released early 2015, as written on her website http://emilyguido.com.

The Light-Bearer Series has given a whole new meaning to romance in these novels, which continues the passionate adventure Tabbruis and Charmeine are taken upon when they fall in love.

Ms. Guido has come a long way from just imagining her characters in her head, and this journey she intends to share.

Check back to read about what Ms. Guido has to say on editing and success this Saturday, Apr. 11.

In the meantime, please connect with the author on her website: emilyguido.com.

  9. Hi Emily, thanks for stopping by and liking my posts! With one novel published and the other near the finish line, you’re an inspiration. Though I do wonder: full time day job AND full time student – how in the world do you find time to write?

Well, keep the caffeine and creativity going! 🙂

    April 17, 2012 at 1:21 am

    • Julie,
It’s hard!!! I have a pretty hectic schedule and 10 things need to be done at once! However, my writing keeps me happy!!! I just finished my first edit on my second novel, “Ransom”! “Charmeine” is getting really good reviews too. My dream is to get a publisher… I guess that is what every unpublished author says but it’s mine! Then I would have time to write more!!! Thanks for the comment!!! I appreciate it!!! Emily

I am still suprised every time someone I don’t know likes my blog. It feels great. Thank you.

  16. I really like the makeover for the blog. Only thing is, I’m craving a navigational menu. I’m a nav menu addict though, so I might be the only one.

    April 25, 2012 at 4:29 am

    • HELLO MISS REIGNS!!! THANK YOU for your comment! I will check on that with the designer! She designed something really great but I wanted to keep the blog look dark and red… lots of roses because that is Charmeine’s favorite flower! So, she really had a lot of restrictions and I think she did an awesome job for the site! But I will ask her about a menu. On the other option she gave me, it had a slider, but with this particular “theme” it had no slider option! Any help I certainly do appreciate! Thanks!

      April 25, 2012 at 11:42 am

  17. I love the site, I’m partial to using deep colors, plain white is too boring. I really like the red and black, and knowing that the red is is based on a favorite flower (roses) just makes it more appealing.

    April 25, 2012 at 9:01 pm

    • Thank you Susan! My character “Charmeine’s” favorite flower is roses and it is referenced all the way through the book. “Tabbruis”, her love interest, knows this and he loves to shower them on her whenever he can get the chance. Very romantic “Tabbruis”! I love the colors because of the darkness of Tabbruis and the fact that he is a blood-hunter (vampire)! And the red was for Charmeine and roses! Thanks for the comment, I welcome any and all!!! You should see the trailer! I just re-did it and it is very good at glazing over the plot! Thanks, Emily

      April 25, 2012 at 9:23 pm

      April 29, 2012 at 10:59 pm

      • You’re very welcome! Writing is so fulfilling isn’t it? I love it!

        April 29, 2012 at 11:03 pm

    • You have no idea how wonderful it is to put the words down. Where I get all twisted up is when no one reads them! That’s where the ‘sand in my eye’ is! In my case, putting these romantic, heartwrenching adventures out there for people to enjoy, and it seems only a handful does! Too funny, because when they do read it, they seem to really like it! I just don’t understand sometimes. But you go on with ‘YOUR BAD SELF’ and write away, you have a great blog and I enjoy it. I’m even following it! Thanks for commenting, it mean the world to me! I hope we chat as we both progress! Thanks and have a great Sunday afternoon! Sincerely, Emily:)

      April 29, 2012 at 11:08 pm

      • I know what you mean. It can be so time-consuming to plan and create a piece of writing and then if nobody, or very few people, reads it afterwards, it can be demoralizing. But we can only continue onwards and upwards if we’re serious about it, as you say!

Thanks for the kind words Emily! It means a lot to me as well and I’d love to chat with you as time progresses 😀

  31. 100,000 words in a week? 😯
After three years (including back story crafting), the first novel of my planned trilogy is around 79,000 words!
Thank you for liking my “cars” post.
The members of my critique group have little knowledge about the uncommon cars my vampires drive, so this post is a visual aid for them. 😉

    June 4, 2012 at 3:50 am

    • I love the different cars!!!
In my novel, my Hero Vampire, Tabbruis, drives a super Dodge Charger with a Hemi Engine!
      Thanks for your comments, Emily

    June 5, 2012 at 12:25 pm

    • Thanks, they are just random snippets of my two books not in any particular order! I do try to make them interesting with pics! Thanks for your comment, I can’t tell you how much it means to me to know that my work is being looked at! Sincerely, Emily

      June 5, 2012 at 12:29 pm

  33. I wish you all the best in your novels! Im highly impressed by your choice of words and grammar…and — and the plot!! It’s unique, really. Well, at least for me it is. You and your novels are amazing! Bloody amazing! I wish I could write like you. I write but I find it extremely hard to finish a story. And no, I don’t get writer’s block. Help? 🙂

    June 6, 2012 at 9:01 am

    • Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate them. I am a good writer but a terrible editor. Charmeine has a lot of editing errors, but it is being Beta Read now to fix. Ransom is pretty clean. I’m saying this because it doesn’t matter how good of a plot or story you have… everything comes down to the editing. I pray to find a publisher everyday! I wish I had one because if I did, all I would need to do is concentrate on writing. I could have had four novels out by now because when I write, it’s like a typhoon hits… I type the whole story at once or part of the story at least. I’m not a little bit at a time writer, I have to stay concentrated on the topic because the movie I see in my head keeps going until it is out! I see the book happening in my head and I’m just interpreting it like a movie review. It’s a weird experience! Like right now, the third novel “Conundrum”s movie is in my head just pressing and banging in my head to get out on my laptop. Once it’s written, the movie goes away.
      Thanks again, Emily

      June 6, 2012 at 2:20 pm

      • Thanks for that. Now I think I can continue writing. And I hope you’ll find a publisher! So you’d have more time to concentrate on your novels.

        June 7, 2012 at 10:45 am

      • I hope you get your Muse and find writing to be a real joy like it is for me! I would love to have time to concentrate on writing! I just rarely get it or the time has to be stolen! Thanks for commenting, it makes my day! Sincerely, Emily

I don’t know, maybe it’s there but I have been downloading free books left and right. Thanks about the website because I pour hours and hours of work into it! Thanks, Emily

  42. hi emily, i wanted to thank you for stopping by. it was a bad day yesterday so that is why such a dark beginning and an uplifting i think hopeful ending to my poem. i didn’t want the dark side to win. today which is actually your yesterday, i started entering dialogue into my screenplay outline. it took me awhile to figure out the special program i am using and my memory is shot in remembering shortcuts. anyway, that made me feel better. how is your writing coming along. still doing you six digit numbers a day. i can exceed in the five digits on a really good day but wow that still blows my mind. did you know that when virginia woolf would finally decide that the first sentence of a chapter worked she felt satisfied. i do beleive though for myself in writing in the flow. that is what i am doing with my script. i’m going to write the whole screenplay with dialog, action directions and scen descritions until i am finished. then i will go back and reread and edit edit edit. but when i do the first draft of the complete script i am turning my muse loss to let me write what comes through her int me and throuh my fingers onto the paper of the computer page. it rreally is the only way. is that kind of what you do. write it all out and then edit. i get screwed up if i try to do it any other way. in start screwing up the order of the content and get ahead of myself in the story. it just makes sense to get it all out first. otherwise i hink you loss what you would have written if you just let yourself go. jen ps. when you have the time let me know what you think. i know time is scarce so take the time you need. i like hearing how other writers use their methods. well, it is dawn and i should be getting some sleep. going to go to bed read a little. finished writing for the evening. need to rest that part of my mind. need to snuggle with my kitties and give treats to our chinchillas. then off i go. take care emily xox

    July 20, 2012 at 9:27 am

  43. sorry for missing letters. my leyboard does not like the internet, esp. facebook and wordpress. and i don’t always catch the errors before i press print. i think you will be able to read through the mistakes. actually the temperament of my keyboard. it’s really not me. i’m usually a pretty good typists. jen 😉 xox fast too…

    July 20, 2012 at 9:32 am

  44. me again. i just read one of you comments furthr up on the page. you do write like i do. it’s in the brain and flashes out as you are writing along as fast as you can to catch all of what you see or hear coming from someplace inside of you… my we have quite som similarities. still would like to connect some more some time. your schedule is as crazy as mine for different reasons. but it all evolves around writing and creating. editing is a pain. i edit over and over again and no matter i always miss something. if you ever have the affordability of hiring an editor let m know i know of one personally who is excellent. she does mine for free because i live with her. she an author, pubished and all that, but she does editing also. just putting it out there, you don’t need to do anything with it okay. enough said. so i can’t wait until later today. i am going into a hypomanic phase which is a lot better than depression. it also means more writing and better mojo…sleep is not on of my favorite things when i am feeling this energy. but i better rest anyway. jen xox

  48. Hi Emily! I have some questions I’d like to ask you, some friendly, professional business advice. Maybe I could email you? I have been writing my own book for a short while now, it is coming along pretty well and very quickly. I have heard so many nightmare stories about going through publishing companies, that it is probably better in this day to go the self publish route, less exposure but more lucrative….just the ins and outs of how it works, where you started and how in the world you do it all with a family? I admire you and applaud you for your success…..
    much love and blessings

  60. Hi Emily, wonderful work you’ve done and continue to do. Inspired by your determination and success.
I wanted to tell you that your “phoenix” also inspires me. I’ve been known online as poetphoenix since 1997 and also as The Scarlet Phoenix. Sorta like my alter ego. Any phoenix image lights me up.Yours is delicious. Makes you a kindred spirit.

I chose here to say hello and tell you I’m looking forward to reading and knowing your work better.

    • I absolutely ove the phoenix symbol my publisher made for me. I wanted something to represent determination, protection and love. It was the closest thing I could find to an Angel which my heroine “Charmeine” is… an Angel. Thank you for commenting and I look forward to learning more about your blog too! Lots of love, Emily

  61. As one of my beloved followers, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude by sharing with you my exciting news of becoming a newly published author! And, of course, I wanted you to be among the very first to get a chance to read the rest of my debut novel, The Legacy of Blood, now available in e-book format.

(No worries if you don’t have a Kindle or other e-reader device, they have free ones to download on your computer. I went on Amazon and downloaded their “Kindle for PC” absolutely free! Love it! Here’s the link if you need it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/kindle/pc/download .)

Again, I want to thank you kindly for all the support. And you never know, as some of my followers have told me, you could say you’ve had a big hand in helping make Shelby Westland a household name! 😛

Other e-reader retailers to follow soon!

    Cheers!

      • Thanks so much for all the kind words and support, Emily! Truly appreciate it 🙂 It means the world. And that’s okay, I can understand how busy you are, I wasn’t even thinking about having you review it, I just wanted to let the people who love it know that it’s available and so they know where to get it, that’s all! But, hey, if you want to later, I’d never turn down a review! 🙂 Take care and thanks

New Paranormal Romance is an unusual genre to me; very interesting indeed.

I appreciate the kind offer, Emily, but I have a stack right here that I cannot even get time to finish. My cousin writes horror & fantasy and I have her books here I can’t finish. My work keeps me busy. Thank you, though.
Lots of love and hugs back, Jackie ❤
