Dracula Untold – thoughts and review, Oh My . . .
Okay, I believe I’m a Paranormal Romance Connoisseur.
Others would say I’m freak about the genre.
However, I choose to believe that we all have little quirks. This is mine.
I love Paranormal Romance!
I religiously read novels, watch movies and TV, and even go to plays of the Paranormal Romance genre.
So, with that little bit of embarrassing fact being divulged, I’m going to share with you my experience from watching the new movie, DRACULA UNTOLD.
I really loved the premise of this movie. Instead of the regular, run of mill evil Dracula . . . this Dracula had a mammoth cause to conquer.
The relationship he has with his wife and child is loving and downright heartwarming.
Yes, and I was brought to welling up as the story developed between the family.
This story of Dracula was not of selfishness or wanton evil, it was about being able to protect your home and loved ones.
Being a hero!
I am always puzzled how villianized the Dracula story is, but this was a truly different take.
Okay, now I’m going to tell you the truth!
The main reason why I loved this movie is because of LUKE EVANS! Oh my . . .
I mean, there are roles made for actors, and this was made for him.
He excelled at it. Not only being my perfect vision of Dracula, his speech, actions, and mannerisms were spot on how Dracula would be.
There is a character in The Light-Bearer Series, Dmitri, who the Dracul Legend was made from. Yes, I used the plot in my novels, but with a totally different twist.
Luke Evans would be an excellent Dmitri!
I was thinking during the movie, I wonder if he will play this role in my movie version of The Light-Bearer Series? Oh my . . .
Gary Shore, the Director did a fantastic job as the action was fast-paced and gripping.
The cinematography and special effects were unbelievably good! I know a lot of the effects were CGI, but I couldn’t tell it. Some of my favorite movies have cheesy CGI and/or special effects. It really detracts from the story, these did not. I was suckered into believing a million bats can wage war against a hoard.
The music by Ramin Djawdi is driving and compelled the scenes. It added to the artistry. Now, I watched this movie in IMAX with Surround sound. I realize that may have helped intensify the experience, but it was worth the money I laid down to watch it.
For all this and more, I would say if you are a Paranormal fan, RUN, don’t walk to see this movie, DRACULA UNTOLD!
If you are an action and historical fan, you would like this movie also.
For my very, self-admitted addiction, I found this version of Dracula to be one of the best I’ve seen in a very long time!
I’m adding it to the list right with John Badham’s, Dracula, which is my all-time favorite movie!
See this movie before it leaves the theater, the small screen won’t give you the wonderful majesty this movie provides!
The Trailer is below, but it won’t do DRACULA UNTOLD justice. I don’t think any trailer could!
I will give this movie a rating of a 10 plus out of 10!
Lots of love, Emily

Dracula . . . oh my . . .
“DRACULA”
thoughts . . .
I wrote “The Light-Bearer Series,” with yes… a Blood-Hunter, Vampire. Furthermore, the Blood-Hunter, Tabbruis, is a GORGEOUS vamp!
Tabbruis, the Blood-Hunter, is MY Dracula. I wrote his character as a gorgeous, dark, brooding male with a cold and dispassionate heart . . . until this is . . . until he sees, Charmeine.
Tabbruis hates anyone or anything coming between him and Charmeine. He fights evil because of her.
Yes, he wants to save the world, blah, blah, blah, but he REALLY WANTS Charmeine all to himself. All this saving the world nonsense is just fluff for him.

“Dracula” written by Bram Stoker was published in 1897. Stoker researches his novel in great detail and especially loved the lore of “Vlad the Impaler” who was a vampiric character on the fifteenth century Wallacian warrior prince, Vlad Dracule.
“Dracula” is written in a diary format. This is an ingenious tool to set up a half way believable story.
Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to set in order Count Dracula’s estate in England. This part of the story I thought to be rather unconventional because why would someone travel hundreds of miles to set an estate in order in another country. However, we would have never known of Dracula’s castle, the lack of mirrors in it and the Count not being seen during the day. Three mysterious women make contact with Harker who cannot resist their spell.
Jonathan writes, “I could feel the soft, shivering touch of the lips on the super-sensitive skin of my throat, and the hard dents of two sharp teeth, just touching and pausing there. I closed my eyes in a languorous ecstasy and waited–waited with beating heart.”
This in itself is suspenseful, horrible, and carnal.
Dracula comes to England and soon Lucy Van Helsing is his victim. However, when he meets Mina Murray, who halfway in the story marries Harker, his cold stone heart turns. She also is drawn to him. Mina accepts him and even though she knows Dracula is death, she wants him! A love that is desperate, provocative and timeless. We learn that Dracula’s intentions are to propagate his race with Mina, his love.
My thoughts are Good vs. Evil is supposed to be the idea here. However, I believe that Stoker thought in the Victorian age, who was really evil? Was it the land owners and shopkeepers who forced their workers into slavery for mere survival?
Also, I believe that Stoker was also giving women a fair hand. After all, the three vixens dominated Harker. Mina, Dracula’s love was willful and headstrong. I loved how he featured strength in women with intelligence! However, Mina wills herself to drag herself into the good. She actually helps ambush Dracula in the end. Something that is abhorrent to her but she is NOT a damsel-in-distress. She is strong, independent and personally tough!
Okay, now you know in detail why I was drawn to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and the concepts and pretext why I wrote “The Light-Bearer Series.”
Always and forever will Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” be a horror treat and classic story with a five star rating!

“DRACULA”
The TV Series
No television show is like this new show “Dracula.”
All I have to say to you is . . . OH MY! Hotness on the tele!
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is DROP DEAD, pardon the pun, outstanding in this role. I love the premise and how it was started. I already have it on pre-order with Amazon.
Series introduces Dracula as he arrives in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society.
In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier.
There’s only one circumstance that can potentially thwart his plan: Dracula falls hopelessly in love with a woman who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife. (IMBD)

Dracula’s Song
“Night of the Hunter”
I love this song!
Epitome of what I believe “Dracula” would feel like if he were walking around today!

“DRACULA”
The Movie
No movie, in my estimation has ever been able to compare to Bram Stoker’s “Dracula.”
However, for sheer sensuality and corporeal entertainment, my favorite movie is the 1979 version, “Dracula.”
It was directed by John Badham. The cinematography was sublime.
Laurence Olivier gives a classic performance as Professor Van Helsing also.
In addition, the music was luscious as only John Williams could compose.
Langella at that time, was drop dead gorgeous!
Langella’s eyes were hypnotic on the screen. His gait and stature were perfect and his voice was powerful and enticing. In addition, his hands were so wonderful, I don’t know why but I just wanted him to possess me with his hands.
The whole movie, “Dracula,” was a sensual delight!
I had to throw this in my post because I love, love, love this movie! Like I said, not like the book but oh my…. it is worth watching!
