Dracula Untold – thoughts and review, Oh My . . .

10616252_307722532746559_1630660148443650798_nOkay, I believe I’m a Paranormal Romance Connoisseur.

Others would say I’m freak about the genre.

However, I choose to believe that we all have little quirks. This is mine.

I love Paranormal Romance!

I religiously read novels, watch movies and TV, and even go to plays of the Paranormal Romance genre.

So, with that little bit of embarrassing fact being divulged, I’m going to share with you my experience from watching the new movie, DRACULA UNTOLD.

Art-Parkinson-Luke-Evans-Dracula-Untold-VladI really loved the premise of this movie. Instead of the regular, run of mill evil Dracula . . . this Dracula had a mammoth cause to conquer.

The relationship he has with his wife and child is loving and downright heartwarming.

dracula-untold-5Yes, and I was brought to welling up as the story developed between the family.

This story of Dracula was not of selfishness or wanton evil, it was about being able to protect your home and loved ones.

Being a hero!

I am always puzzled how villianized the Dracula story is, but this was a truly different take.

Okay, now I’m going to tell you the truth!

The main reason why I loved this movie is because of LUKE EVANS! Oh my . . .

tumblr_inline_n7wwnlD2jK1qfqrsnI mean, there are roles made for actors, and this was made for him.

He excelled at it. Not only being my perfect vision of Dracula, his speech, actions, and mannerisms were spot on how Dracula would be.

There is a character in The Light-Bearer Series, Dmitri, who the Dracul Legend was made from. Yes, I used the plot in my novels, but with a totally different twist.

Luke Evans would be an excellent Dmitri!

I was thinking during the movie, I wonder if he will play this role in my movie version of The Light-Bearer Series? Oh my . . .

Gary Shore, the Director did a fantastic job as the action was fast-paced and gripping.

The cinematography and special effects were unbelievably good! I know a lot of the effects were CGI, but I couldn’t tell it. Some of my favorite movies have cheesy CGI and/or special effects. It really detracts from the story, these did not. I was suckered into believing a million bats can wage war against a hoard.

The music by Ramin Djawdi is driving and compelled the scenes. It added to the artistry. Now, I watched this movie in IMAX with Surround sound. I realize that may have helped intensify the experience, but it was worth the money I laid down to watch it.

For all this and more, I would say if you are a Paranormal fan, RUN, don’t walk to see this movie, DRACULA UNTOLD!

If you are an action and historical fan, you would like this movie also.

For my very, self-admitted addiction, I found this version of Dracula to be one of the best I’ve seen in a very long time!

I’m adding it to the list right with John Badham’s, Dracula, which is my all-time favorite movie!

See this movie before it leaves the theater, the small screen won’t give you the wonderful majesty this movie provides!

The Trailer is below, but it won’t do DRACULA UNTOLD justice. I don’t think any trailer could!

I will give this movie a rating of a 10 plus out of 10!

Lots of love, Emily

    • I’m telling you Laura, I was wiping the drool off of my mouth thinking that he could be in the Castle Charmeine as Dmitri!!! His manner was absolutely what I would pick for Dmitri! I can see him carrying on conversations at the Dining Hall table or meeting with the others mapping out strategy. He would do Dmitri so well!!! Lots of love, Emily

As I saw the poster I thought how much he reminded me of Orlando Bloom, and then I remembered he plays Bard in the The Hobbit trilogy, which is when I first thought they had forgotten to put the elf make-up on Bloom lol

    • Yeah, I don’t think Bloom would have done this role justice. It needed a harder and more war-torn face. Luke Evans was perfect! He would be an absolute dead-on for Dmitri, I’m telling you I was salivating thinking of him talking to Tabbruis and Charmeine saying, “Oh my . . .” Thanks and lots of love, Emily

    • Hi Joleene, I was just panting over the fact that Dmitri could be him! He was dead on how Dmitri acts and talks. But I really loved this movie because it was just my cup of tea! I think I might go see it again on Halloween night…hehehe! Lots of love, Emily

    • Of Course! I’m just freak about the genre, and it really was touching and action packed at the same time. My husband is not a fan, but he liked it because it was fast-paced which kept his attention. Thanks and lots of love, Emily

  13. If your looking for a good action flick with a decent plot this is the movie for you. With a 90min runtime I was expecting this movie to feel “rushed”, it felt far from that. The action was great, it did not disappoint with all the cool vampire abilities you see in the trailer, especially transforming into a group of bats. Being a Dracula movie there are things you have to expect, yes he receives his power by drinking blood, having all the vulnerabilities as every vampire (which they do very good in this movie) but the way this movie makes you root for Vlad(Dracula) you actually find yourself engulfed in the movie wanting him to overcome the darkness and win. However if you are a history buff and it irks you when movies take real life people and change their history for a movie, you will not enjoy this because it is loosely based off Vlad the Impaler. My Review 8/10 Excellent

    • Thank you for your response! I was struck by the story part of it… I was engrossed in wanting Vlad to overcome his enemies and why. The love he shows his son and wife is touching. Yes, the action was great also, but I was hooked by the premise! Thanks again, Emily
